Part II
Speaking of Katie, I was talking with my friend Kristine a few weeks ago and was saying that I don’t think I have any real talents. So Kristine decided who better to ask than one of my children. So she asked Katie, “What is Mommy’s talent?” To which Katie replied, “Being late.” Excellent. When Kristine tried to get her to think of another talent, Katie came up with “Talking.” Now for those of you who know me you’re nodding your heads! If you don’t know me, let me take a moment to brag (if you can call it bragging). I am most excellent at being late. I’m perhaps the tardiest person you could ever know. And I don’t care if it’s something I’m really looking forward to. Chances are I’ll be late for it!!! And talking? I loooove to talk!!!! J
So apparently Katie was right. But maybe I should work a little harder to come up with some things I’m talented at so my oldest daughter doesn’t immediately think of me as someone who’s always talking and always late!!
Steven is playing lacrosse and loving it. And Lauren is looking forward to turning five. Unfortunately for me that doesn’t happen until August 6. However, we’ve been talking about it since the middle of February. Every day we talk about it. What she wants to wear, what kind of cake she wants, what she wants for presents, what she wants for dinner and who is coming to her party. Every day. I have a little over four months for her to talk about it. That’s approximately 120 + days of talking about her birthday. Spectacular. J I wish I could remember how excited I was to turn five!!!
Easter was nice. We hosted this year and this Easter was a lot better than last (not because we had it at our house). Kerry had us to her house last year and I was sooo sick. I remember getting out the shower that day and calling Kerry to tell her that I was putting on sweat pants and a sweatshirt. I wasn’t blow drying my hair and I wasn’t putting on any make up because I didn’t feel well and I was too tired to put too much effort into getting ready. I came downstairs and Katie looked at me with a look of total horror on her face and said, “That’s what you’re wearing for Easter???” I was diagnosed with pneumonia two days after Easter last year so I guess I had a reason to feel so lousy.
I’ve posted some new pictures. Well new to you. Some of them are from last summer. One of them is from my very dear friend Elouise’s recent retirement party. She was my boss from August of 1995 until I left Reebok on December 31, 2001. Elouise is very special to me. I consider her a second mother. I will never forget when she came to see me in the hospital right after Katie was born and her support over this past year has been amazing. Thank you Elouise! She was Reebok’s very first employee and will be retiring on April 18th (I believe). The party was great. It was amazing to hear how such a global brand was built from the ground up. Reebok won’t be the same without Elouise!
I will try not to let so much time go by between postings. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for some warmth and some sunshine!
Love,
Kim
PS. I’ve only added a few pictures. Some of them are too big for the Caring Bridge website and I have to figure out how to make them smaller!!! HELP I’ll never figure it out on my own!!! J
