Hello,
Just a quick update today. I met with Dr. Kim the ENT doctor Monday and there is NOTHING seriously wrong with my larynx!! J They saw some spots but do not think they’re cancer. Of course there are no guarantees unless they biopsy them BUT they think it’s highly unlikely.
Dr. Kim thinks I’ve traumatized my vocal chords from so much coughing. The spots they see could be scar tissue. And apparently I’m extremely dehydrated. They recommended that I drink 50-60 oz of water per day. Do you want to guess what I was drinking before yesterday?? Wow, not even close to 50 or 60 oz. I was probably averaging less than 8 oz per day. I’m just not a big water drinker during the day. Which has now all changed. I just hope I can keep it up. The skin on my face was so dry and flaky it was unbelievable. After just 24 hours with water, I’m actually looking a little better.
They want me to seriously hydrate myself and rest my larynx. The doctor said he would love it if I wouldn’t talk for the next several weeks. He wishes I could walk around with a chalkboard and seriously write instead of talk.
I might not be a big water drinker but I’m certainly a BIG talker so it will be hard for me to do less talking! J But how nice that water is my medicine!!
We also had to get a humidifier because the air is so dry in our house.
Thankfully, it’s almost spring—for soooo many reasons!
I will go back to see him in six weeks and hope that my voice has improved!
My hair continues to grow in. Not fast enough for me but at least it’s growing in. I’m a long way from being able to go anywhere without my wig but am hoping that day is at least somewhere in the future. I’m like a human chia pet—too bad grass grows quicker than hair!
I have my CT scan on Thursday and my PET scan on Friday and will get the results on Monday. So I will let you know on Monday how everything looks!
I have so many people to thank for feeding us over these past few months. And some of you have fed us several times!

I have a ton of casserole dishes and pretty pie plates and Tupperware to return (Jen Quinlan-Flynn—you’re one of the Tupperware people) from last week and as much as five months ago. Please don’t think I’ve forgotten about you or that I’ve secretly added your stuff to my private stash. I will be making a delivery soon! I promise!
