Hello Everyone,
I started Round 11 this morning. Everything went well and as pathetic as it is to have chemo be routine, it was pretty much a routine visit. Round 12 will be August 13 and my next PET scan will be on August 15th. I know I’ve already mentioned it but sometimes I’m redundant.
The summer is going well. The kids and I have spent a lot of time at the Holden Pool. Yesterday’s visit to the Pool was particularly special because every Holden mother’s favorite life guard was there. And you all know who I’m talking about. He was just visiting and not working but it was good to see him!! J Karen: Sorry you missed him!!
Last week I went for dinner with three old college friends: Eileen, Carol and Moe. We had a great time. We laughed and got caught up. Thanks for a great night guys! Can we please not wait so long for another one??!!!
Congratulations on a major accomplishment for four of my friends: Pam, Lisa, Kerry and Heather all did the Danskin Triathalon on Sunday. Way to go you guys. You must be so proud of yourselves and you should be.
I’m thinking I’d like to do it next year…of course when I say that, just keep in mind that it’s an entire year away. I’ll come up with a million excuses not to do it by the time I have to register (as a matter of fact, I can probably rattle 10 of them off the top of my head right now). However, I did look up registration information and if you’re a cancer survivor you get to register for your first triathalon for free. I just keep playing that cancer card!!! J
The part of the triathalon that scares me is the swimming. I’m not a strong swimmer (and when my mother and my sister read this they’ll say she’s not a swimmer at all!!). Don’t get me wrong, I can swim but I don’t really like it. I like to touch the bottom or at least know that I can touch the bottom—or if I’m in a pool I like to grab onto the side. My friend Kerry said the swimming part wasn’t that bad and I want to hear what Lisa has to say about it. A lot of whether I register or not will depend on the swimming part and well, whether or not I’m healthy enough….ahhh, just had to throw that in there for dramatic effect!!! But seriously, I do have to make sure I’m healthy enough!!! See I can play the cancer card to register for free and then play it again if I want to bail!! J
Anyone want to do it with me next year?? Remember, it’s not an iron clad commitment. I’m full of good excuses so if you volunteer to do it with me and then you bail on me, I’ll totally understand. Speaking of races, my sister Kerry and I are thinking of doing the road race that Wachusett Fitness sponsors on Thanksgiving morning….any takers on that one? I figure I can run, I actually like to run—you’d never know it because I never do it—but I used to!!! It might be cold on Thanksgiving morning but it’s better than swimming!! J Let me know if you’re interested in either venture!
I’ll see some of you around town—it’s so good to catch up with everyone at the Holden Pool. Westfield Girls: I’m hoping we get together soon.
Take care and I hope you continue to enjoy the summer.
Love,
Kim
