Hello all,
It’s been a good weekend all in all. However, I kicked the weekend off by going back to the doctor’s office on Friday afternoon. I had some chest pains which I felt would be better checked by Dr. Walsh than by a visit to the ER.
They checked my blood oxygen level which has risen to 99-100%! When this whole thing started, my blood oxygen level was 98% and when I was in the hospital getting my first infusion it had dipped to 97%. Now, I realize that 97 and 98% are both very respectable levels; however, I’m happy that they’ve gone up and they’re practically perfect!
Dr. Walsh gave me a quick check up and determined that my chest pains were not much to worry about. I have my EKG on Wednesday so we’ll know if my heart is doing okay. As I mentioned last week, the radiologists have pointed out a pericardial effusion so chest pains could be cause for concern.
Can I just add that Dr. Walsh thinks I’m doing “spectacularly well???” That’s a direct quote!
I spent Friday night in Rutland playing Bunco with Kerry and Melissa Callender. We had fun. The kids have had lacrosse and t-ball and baseball all weekend. I retuned a dish to Allison Labovitz yesterday and had quite a nice visit. Allison: You know I’m dying to hear how Casino Night was!! J Even if Charlie thinks we’re silly!!
Then Greg and I were supposed to go out to dinner last night but he’s feeling a bit under the weather. My parents were going to baby-sit so my Dad and I ended up going out instead. My Mom wasn’t feeling that well either so she was just as happy to stay at home. I feel bad for everyone who has been sick in the last few weeks. You’re not supposed to feel yucky in the spring…that stuff is for the winter!
My Dad and I went to Dick’s Sporting Goods where he helped me pick out a golf glove; I got some tees and some practice balls. So, I’m taking this whole golf thing pretty seriously. Now, I just need to find myself some shoes. Actually, what I really need to do is learn how to hit the ball. I think that would actually be more important than picking out my shoes!! J Because if I can’t hit the ball, I really don’t need the shoes do I?? I didn’t find any last night. However, as I’ve mentioned I love to shop and I love to shop for shoes more than anything. So, shopping for golf shoes will be fun!
We’ve got some more games today and I’ll wrap up my weekend by packing up for tomorrow’s chemo session. I can drink cold drinks and I have tons of energy and I feel fantastic! So, I’m a little bummed that I’ll be crashing again later this week but it’s round five. We’re one more round closer to another CT scan.
The neuropathy starts immediately so I’m going to drink all the cold things I can today. In honor of being able to eat and drink cold things, I had a few margaritas with dinner last night and a hot fudge sundae for dessert. As I’ve said, it’s like Mardi-Gras for me in the few days before chemo.
I found my Emla. If you don’t remember, I couldn’t find it last time and it was kind of uncomfortable. So, I’ll be using my Emla and my Press-n-Seal tomorrow morning.
I’m also starting to have Port Paranoia. As the layers come off, I’m afraid you can sort of kind of see it. It sticks out in some of my shirts and sweaters. Now, I bet if you saw me you might not notice it but when I look at myself in the mirror it looks larger than life. Again if you find yourself staring at my right collar bone (or right below), I won’t be offended. It’s just my port! J
I’ll be thinking of Kerry tomorrow morning. She’s having a tooth pulled and she’s totally freaked out. Kerry: It will all be fine and will be over before you know it.!!!
I’ll let you know how tomorrow goes.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Love,
Kim
