Then I got an early Mother’s Day gift. When I got home, there was a message from Dr. Uy who had reviewed the CT scan (already!!) and asked us to page him.
Not only has the pericardial effusion drained itself, but there is also remarkable shrinkage throughout my chest (wow, somewhere there’s a double entendre there and in my case it would be hard to have remarkable shrinkage!!J)!!! Remarkable!! He said he had to look away and look at the CT scan again because he couldn’t believe how good it looked!!!! Can you believe it?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
The scan still needs to be reviewed by a radiologist to get the exact measurements of the nodes and the tumor but we’re seeing progress. So not only do I not have to worry about the fluid around my heart, but I can also feel good about the chemo’s efficacy!
Thank you all for your prayers and your good thoughts. Each of you has carried me through this ordeal and you’ve all done it in your own special way. I cannot thank you enough. I’ve said it before but the cards, the emails, the caringbridge posts, the meals, the gifts, the phone calls, the shoulders and ears have meant more to me than you can ever know. THANK YOU!!!
I’m not out of the woods yet but right now I’m feeling like I’m on top of the world.
To the few of you who listened to me this week complain about being poked and prodded, thank you. I have my down moments and I was really crabby this week thinking about a possible pending procedure and my CT scan. I shouldn’t complain but I thank each of you for listening and offering your words of wisdom.
Kelly Newcomb: Wow, you make me laugh. I wish I could have been there to see you giving those people a piece of your mind!!
Thank you to Mary Jane Rasku, Karen Gardner and Chris Zacaro for feeding us this week. I’m thinking that we might revisit that whole thing soon because I’ve been feeling good these past few weeks!
I start Round 6 on Monday and I’m feeling positive. There will be no weeping this week (well maybe when I get my shot. If you see me in short sleeves and you see the bruises on my arms, it’s all from the Procrit!!)
Happy Mother’s Day to all of you out there! Have a great weekend.
Love,
Kim
