Hi Everyone,
Just a quick update: My meeting with my Thoracic Surgeon, Dr Uy, was postponed until September 8 because of a scheduling conflict on his part.
I had to inform Dr Walsh because he was under the impression I would be meeting with Dr Uy (remember him? His name is pronounced like the French word for yes—oui) this week and my biopsy would potentially occur the week of August 25.
For right now, the September 8 appointment is sticking. Dr. Walsh has no qualms about me missing a few weeks of chemo (I am soooooo psyched about that. I can’t even tell you how nice it is to feel like a normal person for a few weeks) and then said something to the effect, “Waiting until September has one advantage in that by the time you
have the biopsy, you will be 6 weeks out from Avastin, and thus less
likely to have bleeding complications.”
To which, I replied (all over email), “awesome.....you hadn't informed me of the ‘bleeding complications.’ Just one more thing for me to worry/freak out about. :)”
Having these concerns now on the table, you can believe that this girl is waiting until September to have a biopsy so she can avoid any and all “bleeding complications,” thank you very much.
Waiting until September also gives the antibiotics more time to work. And I do have to say that I had a slight (ever so slight) cough which seems to be improving with the antibiotics. I will have another CT scan before a biopsy to take another look at the nodules (sorry but I had to use the word).
If this all does turn out to be cancer then I will have to move to the next line of drugs and there are no other protocols really available to me so I’m completely freaking out and hoping these things are just a bump in the road and not something serious!
Other than that, we’re winding down our summer here in Holden. I’m a little sad that the Holden Pool closes on Friday because we’ve barely been there this year due to the crummy weather we’ve had. I’ve got to get going on the back to school shopping though so at least I have next week to crank that out.
I will keep you updated.
Love,
Kim
