Part II
How often do medical miracles happen? I only have to look across the room at my Katie for an answer. The doctors didn’t think she’d be able to walk or to even sit up. They for sure thought she’d spend her life in a wheelchair. That kid has more determination than anyone I know. Not only is she is able to sit up but she will not spend her life in a wheelchair. Katie used her walker like a champ when she first got it at 2 years old. Her orthopedic surgeon warned us not to get our hopes up when we got her the crutches at age 4. She transitioned to those things without skipping a beat. Katie starts her third soccer season on Sunday and will be playing her second year of T-Ball later in April. Odds can be defied and miracles do happen. I’ve witnessed that with her. I hope I can defy my own odds and realize my own medical miracle.
Greg surprised me with a bracelet from Angela Moore yesterday. It’s a pretty beaded bracelet that has angels on each of the beads. Now I have a ring of angels embracing me every day. You should check out the website (www.angelamoore.com); they’ve got some great stuff. Thank you Greg for your love and support.
As far as my NCAA picks are concerned (Tracy and Greg). I’m sitting ok at this point. I soared to a fairly respectable 80% on Sunday afternoon, which was up from an abysmal 19.2% on Thursday morning. The bracket that Kansas was in nearly destroyed me but then I almost had the final four sewn up. However, North Carolina didn’t do me any favors when they choked in the final minutes of regulation and then completely failed to show up in overtime. Tracy, I guess I know how important loyalty is to you. I’ll be sure to let MJ know. And really, I could because Kerry’s boss is very good friends with him!!!!
Carol: I had forgotten about our first breakdown in Florida and local law enforcement finding it odd that we were out by the pool in our bathing suits in not quite 70-degree weather. Never underestimate a girl’s determination to get a tan. Because of the lack of sunbathing weather that vacation, I also remember lying on the beach later that week and trying to cram my tan by neglecting to apply appropriate sunscreen. The result was a scorching sunburn over 90% of my body. I think some of my premature “laugh lines” could be a direct result of that disastrous attempt at coming home to Massachusetts all bronzed up.
