Hello all,
I’m feeling more energetic today. I ran a quick errand with Lauren and I’m trying to pick up my house! It’s when I feel so good that I think I must be exaggerating when I’m feeling so crummy!! My fever has gone down and I’m feeling healthy. Yay!!
I have another thing to look forward to when I get better. Golfing!!! J You see, I was bit by the golf bug back in September when I golfed in my cousin Tim’s annual charity golf tournament. I played on a team with my Mother, my Auntie Carol and my Auntie Jean. Well, when I say I played, really what you could call it is: I filled out the foursome and rode in the cart. I stunk! I hadn’t picked up a golf club in over 12 years and hadn’t done anything to prepare for the day. However, I had a really good time in spite of myself! My aunts and my mother invited me back for the tournament this year! I guess they liked my company because they certainly didn’t invite me back for my golfing skills.
When I first golfed, the only reason I wanted to try it was that Greg was starting to golf and I only wanted to be better than him. I figured if we were starting at the same time, we would be on an even playing field and I would have a chance at being the better golfer! I really didn’t have an interest in golf. Then I got hit with a line drive right off my neck!! It’s actually a pretty funny story! And if that wasn’t enough to scare me from the game, when I went to work the next day, everyone had horror stories to add to mine. “Oh my Dad got hit off the head.” “My son-in-law’s cousin’s neighbor’s mailman lost his eye when he got hit with a golf ball.” I thought maybe everyone should wear a helmet and protective eye-wear on the golf course. However, none of the golfers I surveyed with my idea seemed to agree with me. I stopped playing shortly after that and had absolutely no interest in the game. I was completely befuddled why my parents would go on golfing vacations; that seemed like an oxymoron to me. I’m now intrigued with the game and can’t wait to try it out this summer.
Anyway, my Dad knows I want to learn and he stopped by last night and surprised me with a driver. It’s a used driver (used by my Mom) but it’s new to me! When I’m feeling up to it, he’s going to take me to the driving range and give me some lessons. My mother just got a new set of clubs and a bag so I can use her old ones!! So look out! I’m still afraid of getting hit so if you ever see me on the golf course and I hit the deck when someone yells “Fore” you might understand why and cut me some slack. I plan on actually being a contributing member of the tournament team this year. J
My Dad will be a great person to learn from because I think he’s a good player and he’s very kind and very, very, very patient! And Greg never really got into golf so I still have the opportunity to be better than he is! Am I just sophomoric or what???
Thank you Wendy Dion for the great meal and the sweet treats. Wendy dropped off the meal and got to see what a mess my house is today! Lucky her! Lucky me!!
Love,
Kim
