Hello Everyone,
We had a great visit at Children’s today. Dr. Karlin thinks Katie is a remarkable young lady! He’s extremely pleased with her progress and we don’t have to see him for another six months. One appointment down, two to go!
My kids are away at our friends the Twitchells in Norton for a few days…shhh….is it horrible of me to be sitting at my kitchen counter and enjoying the peace and quiet???!! It will be weird to be here at the house for a few days without them but I will do my best to muddle through J
Then of course I start down the road of “why are my kids down in Norton when we‘re going to get results of the latest CT scan. Does that mean we’re going to get bad news and we’ll need time without the kids to digest it?” Then I’m trying to decide if I’m having chest pains…is it in my head? Oh the places we can go in our heads! I could drive myself crazy!! OR does it just mean the kids get to go away for a few days to one of the funnest houses I know of? Probably the latter….but I do make myself crazy with the thoughts that run through my head. Isn’t that the definition of crazy??? J
Greg brought Lauren and Steven to the Twitchells this morning so it was just me and Katie in Boston today. It’s so nice when you get to spend some one-on-one time with your kids isn’t it? It doesn’t happen very often and I’m thinking I should try harder to find the time to make sure they each get their own time. Lauren gets plenty of one-on-one during the school year because it’s always just the two of us but Steven and Katie don’t get much of my undivided attention.
After Katie’s appointment, she and I went for lunch at Pizzeria Uno (Cat, I was thinking of you!) and I had the deep dish sundae for dessert (Scott Hauver I was also thinking of you and wondering if you got the chance to try it today---you’ll have to tell me what you think of it when you do…but don’t tell Shanna because she might make you pick up the pace on those walks you guys go on or she’ll make you go twice as far!! J ).
While we were at lunch Katie told me she would like to be called Katherine or just Kate—no more Katie…hmmmmmmmm….that’s going to be hard but I’m going to try my best to accommodate her.
Lynne Whittaker: know that I’m thinking of you often during the day and sending you my love!
Mackenzie Sullivan: I’m thinking of you during these difficult days of figuring out what your next steps are. I’m hoping they have a plan in place before you go to California and I’m hoping the Lovenox will help with the blood clots so you can enjoy yourself on the West Coast.
So I will update you all tomorrow and I’ll be hoping that my chest pains are agita and not growing tumors or pericardial effusions!! J
I hope the night goes well for the Twitchells!
Love,
Kim
