Hello,
Yesterday was a day for running on empty. I went to the doctor’s office late so my fanny pack was beeping at me because it was empty, my cell phone needed to be charged so it was chirping at me and I literally almost ran out of gas.
However, it all ended well. My port was de-accessed (freedom!!!) and I was able to get gas. As a result of needing gas, Greg and I found a “shortcut” out of Dr. Walsh’s office. Sometimes being a scatterbrain has its rewards…sometimes! Or at least that’s what I keep telling Greg.
I’m feeling okay. I oscillate between nausea and just a lack of appetite. But my exhaustion is overwhelming. And I know I’ve said that it’s a weird kind of tired but it really is. It’s the kind of tired you feel when you’re sick. It hits you like a wall and you just have to sit down. When you sit down, then you just want to lie down and rest your eyes. When you rest your eyes, you just want to take a little nap.
Well that happened to me yesterday. I fell asleep in a chair for about 45 minutes in the afternoon and then going to the doctor’s office just about wiped me completely out. I took a nap from 6:00-ish until around 8:00. However, because I’m not sick (well, except for the obvious), I was wide awake at 9:30.
Today I have the need to just sit. I sit in a lump and I can’t move. But sitting in a lump gives me the opportunity to start reading my book club book, Wicked. I’m loving it. I’m afraid some of you guys might not like it (I didn’t pick it this time but did suggest it awhile back). I swear if you ignore some of the weird stuff (like the talking animals) and just concentrate on the people, you’ll like it. Wicked is the background story on how the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz became so wicked. Tammy MacDonald, have you read it? Tammy is the only person other that I know that loved that movie more than me!
Remember when we were kids and you’d know the general time of year The Wizard of Oz would be on TV and you’d race to the TV Guide every week to see if it was coming on in the next seven days? Tammy Pedjoe and I were obsessed with the Wizard of Oz. I think it’s one of those things our kids miss out on because they can watch their favorite move about a million times on DVD. But we had to wait a whole year. It was an event! It was so much fun waiting for the Wizard of Oz and the Sound of Music (I can’t remember how old I was when I finally saw the whole movie because I always had to go to bed right after the wedding!) to come on TV.
My house is sparkling clean by the way!! Wow, I can’t believe how clean my house is! It’s like party-ready clean from top to bottom!!! It’s the first time we’ve ever had someone come in to clean the house. Back when I was working, Greg suggested we get someone to clean the house. My answer was why should my entire paycheck go to someone who is watching my kids and cleaning my house. If we’re going to pay for all these things, why don’t I just stay home??
And I did. However, my house was never as clean as I would like it to be. I bought the Martha Stewart Homekeeping Handbook. I suppose I have to do more than just buy the book. I might want to take some of her suggestions and actually do some of the housekeeping! J
It’s kind of like all of my fitness magazines and gym memberships (oh Tracy, I could still make you laugh with the gym memberships). Did you know that you can’t just get into shape by joining a gym or purchasing a subscription? You have to actually go to the gym and do some of the exercising and healthy eating that the magazine suggest.
We found out yesterday that I’ll get the results of my CT scan on April 13—that’s Friday the 13th for those of you who don’t have a calendar in front of you. I’ve never considered myself a triskaidekaphobe (anyone out there ever have Mr. Corriveau? If you did, then you know what that means. And I bet I spelled his last name right too—bonus points!! You know what I’m talking about), but I’m wondering if I should feel superstitious. Ah, it’s just a day. A big day. I hope a good day.
Enjoy the snowy view today. Nothing like snow in April. It will make for some fun egg hunts this weekend!
Love,
Kim
