Hello all,
I had my port de-accessed today. It feels good to be free of the pump. Although the pump was better than being tethered to an IV pole, it’s still nice to be just me. The de-access was a piece of cake. Faith removed the steri-strips as well so the whole port is feeling a lot better than it did last week.
I want to correct myself as well in regards to the port’s location. It’s not in my jugular vein but instead in my sub-clavian vein. Just in case anyone is keeping score at home I want to make sure I point out when I’m wrong.
I’m absolutely exhausted today. I almost can’t even move. Thank God my sister has been here the past few days to help me out. She comes in the house and takes over and I’m so thankful for her because I truly feel like I can’t function. Thank you Kerry for knowing exactly what I need and for taking care of me and the kids.
I can feel that nausea creeping back as well. My neighbor Heather and my cousin Lisa are both nurses and they lauded the effectiveness of Zofran, one of my anti-nausea medications. The Zofran is what I will take on a scheduled basis and I’ll use Compazine on an as-needed basis. As I’ve said, I plan on taking a proactive stance against the nausea this round.
Thank you Heather for stopping by this morning with a bowl full of bagels (and I mean a big bowl full), cream cheese and a fruit platter. It was so good. A bagel is exactly what I wanted to eat for lunch. As a matter of fact, it was the last thing I ate today. I might even have some fruit, which will make Greg very happy. He doesn’t like when I only eat cereal.
Thank you to Bob and Jen Parker for a delicious dinner.
A great big huge thank you to my cousin Pam Ahearn for organizing the meals. You are a total life-saver for taking over the task and keeping it on track. Thank You! I love you!
I’m tired today so I’ll say good-night.
Love,
Kim
