Part II
I had another great weekend of eating and drinking. It’s starting to be like Mardi-Gras around here on the weekends before treatment. Well, except there are no live jazz bands, no parades, no balconies, no bead throwing and really no reveling. So maybe it’s not so much like Mardi-Gras, but instead more like Kim spends three days straight stuffing her face with food!! Ah, but Mardi Gras makes it sound so much more fun!! J
We spent Friday evening with Alec and Melissa Callendar. They had us over for dinner along with Kerry and Hannah. They have an unbelievable finished basement that is literally a child’s wonderland (complete with a climbing wall and fusball) so the kids and the adults had a great time. Thank you Alec and Melissa!
Saturday night was Book Club night. These six women are truly an incredible group of friends. We meet once a month and eat a delicious meal and discuss the book we’ve read. But if you ask our husbands, they’ll tell you that what we really do is eat dinner, drink wine and talk about everything other than the book. We do in fact discuss the book we’ve read but the real conversation centers on each of our lives, which are far more interesting, meaningful and important than any book we could read. We’ve been together for approximately four years (the core group started earlier than that but three of us joined after its inception). We’ve been through a lot together (and can believe that two of us have had colon cancer in the last few years?!?!?!). I am so happy to call them my friends and consider myself truly blessed that each of them wants to be a friend of mine. Thank you Kathleen for another great meal and Alison for another exquisite dessert!
I’m getting ready for Round 3. I’m going to apply my Emla tomorrow morning before we go in. Yes, I’m still nervous about having my port accessed. And I’m a little bummed that I’m going to feel crummy in a few days. It’s so great to feel good and feel like doing things around the house!
I’ll let you all know how tomorrow goes.
Love,
Kim
