Hello,
Well I never did get that cold so that’s a good thing. I had my blood work checked and everything is fine as far as I know. They said they would call me if there was a problem and that I would hear by today. I didn’t get a phone call so no news is good news! What do I mean when I talk about my blood work? Let me explain.
They take blood out of my arm and then they run a series of tests. They check my blood for red cell counts, white cell counts and they check my platelets. I can receive a transfusion for either red cells or platelets. However, there isn’t much they can do for white cells. They will check my blood work again on Monday before they give me chemo just to be sure I’m healthy enough. Even if my counts are fine now, they will check again before round three.
Can you believe it will be round three so soon? I can’t. I feel like it took more time to arrive at a diagnosis and a plan of attack than it has to begin to fight back. And as I’ve said, it might be working. My cough is so much better and I can actually take a nice deep breath without breaking into ugly, spastic hacks!! They’re so attractive maybe I’ll miss them..hmmmm….probably not!! J
I have so much energy today. My energy surge actually started Sunday afternoon around 4:00. It was as if a fog lifted and all of a sudden I felt like myself again! It’s so weird. So I’ll make the most of the next five days I have before chemo and start again. I actually feel fine on the day I’m receiving the chemo and then for the next day and a half. I think I start to crash right after they de-access me. I’m still trying to figure it all out.
Thank you to Eileen Chandler for sending us the fantastic turkey dinner. We had it on Sunday and it was great!
Have a good night.
Love,
Kim
PS. Yes, Maureen I remember breaking down in the Subaru. It was late on a Friday afternoon and it was hard to find a garage willing to help us. It reminds me of the scene in Little Miss Sunshine when they can’t get the VW Bus fixed because it’s a Friday afternoon. If any of you haven’t seen that movie yet, you should. It’s absolutely hysterical. We rented it when I was having all my initial tests. I wasn’t smiling much and didn’t think anything was funny. But Little Miss Sunshine had me laughing out loud!
