Part II
I have a PET/CT Scan scheduled for October 24 and I’m nervous. I’m in remission but will it be a sustainable, long lasting situation or is it tenuous and only a brief reprieve? Who knows? I’m practically obsessed with the obituaries. I open to them almost immediately and check to see who has died of cancer and if the obit contains how long the battle was. And I wonder: did they achieve remission? What stage were they when they were diagnosed? How sick were they? Did they know it was a losing battle or did they think they’d win?
I’m still going every other week to get my maintenance chemo. I’m receiving just the 5FU and the Leucovorin. I still have the fanny pack but not the side effects. So I’m feeling good and I hope it stays that way. I’m back to playing field hockey (God it was great to see all of you again!!!) and back to kickboxing class (Jill: thank you for making me feel so welcome!!! And for sticking me with Denise on my first day back!!! Talk about a workoutJ).
I’m also trying to find a job!! Yes a job…anyone hiring???? J
Please keep the Pomeroy family in your hearts and prayers: Tracy, Brett, Lucas, Camden and Braden. Remember when I told you about the fantastic birthday party we went to back in August to celebrate Sadie’s first birthday? Sadie was born August 16, 2006 with a birth defect called Trisonomy 18. On October 5, 2007, Sadie became an angel. Please pray for this incredible family. One of the quotes they had on the program from her funeral: “The secret to life is what you add to it….Add something.” We should all try to add something every day we’re here.
Please also keep my Uncle Ralph in your prayers. He was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer back in August. He is fortunate that one of the leading experts for Kidney Cancer in the U.S., if not the world, is right here in Boston. He hopes to be part of a clinical trial. I’ll keep you posted.
Thank you Paul Bartalini for signing my guestbook and also insulting me in my guestbook!!! I am not a nerd!!! J I just happen to love my Franklin Planner and still use it faithfully (priority ABC, 123……). I taught you time management and you taught me all about gambling and pit bosses (Elouise: I really was working when I was conducting a class but sometimes I have a tendency to digress!!!). We had a lot of fun though. Please tell Kristen I say hello!
I will write soon and more often. I hope you’re all having a great fall!!!
Love,
Kim
